At the TechCrunch Disrupt Conference, which is going on in the US right now,

the Chief Software Officer of Rivian was on stage, Wassim Ben Saeed, and he confirmed on stage what I think we all

knew, or very strongly suspected, when Scout Motors talked about their zonal architecture.

Scout Motors is coming back within a pickup and an SUV, and Rivian's software chief confirming

on stage yesterday that Scout will use Rivian's software and Rivian's

technology as part of the $5 billion joint venture deal that VW are putting into Rivian.

So I think we knew that, but also fantastic to get confirmation of that, the Scout will use the Rivian tech.

BYD just overtook Tesla, at least in

revenue. Now, Tesla still makes more pure Vs in the third quarter of this year than BYD,

this ding-dong battle to be the world's number one. But in terms of revenue, BYD had a stellar

third quarter. Their revenue was 28.2 billion US dollar's equivalent, surpassing

Tesla's $25.2 billion. So B.Y.D. take the honors in terms of revenue. Now, Volkswagen's

cost-cutting strategy could avoid plant closures. Negotiations have now begun with the trade union

IGMetal, and it looks like one of the proposals on the table is a 10% pay cut for staff at Volkswagen brand, which could avert closing complete factories. The unions, the works council, saying that this is a first small signal of progress, but they want to carry on talking again through November,

warning that strikes could begin in December, though.
