I'm Julie Slattery, and this podcast is a production of authentic intimacy, a ministry dedicated

I'm back at the coffee shop with two of my favorite friends, Linda Dillo and Yvette Marr,

and I'm asking them to

teach me about a season of life that's really right around the corner for me. Mike and I are not

quite empty nesters. We're almost there. And none of our boys are married yet. But I've been thinking a lot

lately about what I need to do to foster good relationships with our adult children and maybe

someday our grandchildren. One of the challenges we face is we become empty nesters and later grandparents

is how to stay connected. Or for some, you can actually be too connected and push your adult

children away because you don't know how to stop parenting them. So I asked Yvette

and Linda to share what they've learned over the years from their own stories and experiences.

You're going to hear about how to build a relationship that will lay the foundation for future

conversations. You'll learn about when to speak and when to just be quiet. How to let go of

your assumption that you're

always right. Boy, that's tough to do. And as an adult children, how do you set boundaries with a

parent or maybe an in-law who's interfering? So this conversation is for anyone who struggles to get

along with a parent, adult child, grandchild, or grandparent, or maybe like me, you're just excited

and interested in what lies ahead.
