The topic of today's episode is taking gifts back after a breakup.

So I want to start by defining the meaning of a gift.

A gift is something given voluntarily without payment in return as to show favor towards someone, honor an occasion, or make a gesture of assistance, a present.

And that is taken straight from the dictionary.

Nowhere in that definition, do you see the words temporary or until I change my mind or until we break up. Simply put, taking a gift

back after a breakup is cheesy as hell. It is something people do based off of their intense

emotions at the time and it is also often used as a way to try to hurt the other

person because they are hurting.

Bottom line, never give a gift unless you will never have the urge or need to take it back. Saying that you want your gift back is often also used as an excuse to see the person,

you know, like the whole, I need to get my stuff back.

Yeah, we know the drill with that. I mean sure we want our stuff back but there's usually a lot more to it.

I urge you to maintain some dignity and maturity when you break up.

Asking for your gift back will not shine a positive light on you whatsoever.

Let it go. The only time I would say that it's okay to take a gift back is if it's an

engagement ring and the relationship has ended. Then yes, the other person has no
