Temperatures could reach record levels in parts of the U.S.

this week.

The National Weather Service says much of the Midwest could see the hottest weather of the summer.

It says high temperatures will range from 90 to 105

degrees with heat index values reaching between 105 to 115 degrees. Those are the

fields like temperatures and could last for several days impacting cities like

Kansas City, St. Louis, Des Moines, Chicago, Indianapolis and Miami.

And this comes as a new study in the medical journal Jama found more patients are becoming really sick because

their bodies can't take the heat.

It shows heat-related deaths increased 117 percent from 1999 to 2023, with more than 21,000 people dying in that period.

However, deaths from heat can be harder to identify,

and researchers say they're probably undercounted.

The Congressional Task Force is visiting the rally site

where former President Donald Trump was shot by a would-be assassin back in July.

The new Task Force is embarking on a four-month probe to investigate the

recent assassination attempt.

The investigation is expected to lead to a new proposed law to prevent future security failures.
