From CNN, I'm Afamadiki with the five things you need to know for Wednesday, December 18th. The Federal Reserve has cut interest rates by a quarter point, and it could be the last rate cut we see for months.

Inflation still isn't where the Fed wants it.

It heated back up again in November, according to the Consumer Price Index, but it's just above the central bank's target of 2%.

Plus, the job market is cooling and economic growth remains strong.

House Republicans have wrapped their investigation into the January 6th Capitol attack this week.

In their report, they recommend prosecuting former Republican congresswoman Liz Cheney for her work on the House

Select Committee. They accused her of witness tampering, alleging she colluded with former Trump

White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson, one of the star witnesses who was crucial to the former

Select Committee's investigation. This comes after the president-elect told NBC earlier this month, but he thinks should happen to the committee members.

For what they did, honestly, they should go to jail.

Trump appeared to double down on that possibility in a statement on truth social today.

Cheney defended her work, accusing the GOP of fabricating, quote,

lies in defamatory allegations to cover up Trump's

actions on January 6th.
