0:00.0	So here we are, 3rd Nephi chapter 8. If you look at your scripture page, we've been
0:05.6	422 pages into this book Mormon, where prophets have been giving signs regarding the coming
0:16.1	of the Messiah. And now, over in the old world, he's being crucified, he's being killed.
0:22.6	He's performing that infinite atonement. And we get to see the effects in the new world
0:29.6	of what the natural disasters are that come as a result of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ
0:36.6	in the old world. Look at chapter 8, verse 1. Mormon gives
0:41.5	us some pretty powerful description of prophets, validating and verifying profit. Look at verse 1,
0:48.7	and now it came to pass that according to our record, and we know our record to be true.
0:53.2	For behold, it was a just man who did
0:55.5	keep the record, for he truly did many miracles in the name of Jesus. And there was not any man
1:00.2	who could do a miracle in the name of Jesus, save he were cleansed every wit from his iniquity.
1:05.0	So he's saying, look, we can trust this record written by Nephi, this man of God. And he tells you that verse 5, it came to
1:15.3	pass in the 30 and 4th year, in the first month, on the 4th day of the month, there arose
1:22.9	a great storm. If we were using a Gregorian calendar, that would be January 4th. We're not using a Gregorian
1:29.1	calendar. They're on a totally different calendar system. The point being, it's the fourth day
1:34.7	of the very first month of the year. Well, this is where we finally can do a little bit a crossover
1:40.8	between the old world and the new worlds, because we know when Jesus was crucified.
1:45.0	He was killed on, or one day, give or take on Passover. Well, we know when Passover falls.
1:51.7	It's the first full moon after the spring equinox every year. So it looks like the Nephite calendar
1:58.9	is turning over sometime really close to that spring equinox.
2:05.6	Notice the descriptions now that Mormon uses with the storm. Verse 6.
2:10.6	There was also a great and terrible tempest, and there was terrible thunder, in so much that it did shake the whole earth as if it was about to
