0:06.0	Today, 3rd Nephi chapters 12 through 16.
0:11.0	I want to begin with a very famous verse in chapter 12, the last verse of that particular chapter
0:18.0	that reads as follows, therefore I would that ye should be perfect,
0:25.4	even as I or your father who is in heaven is perfect. Years ago, Elder or President Jeffrey
0:33.6	R. Holland gave an incredible talk called Be ye therefore perfect eventually. In that talk,
0:40.7	he shares this little concept. He says, around the church, I hear many who struggle with this
0:48.5	issue. I'm just not good enough. Or I fall so short. or I will never measure up. I hear this from teenagers,
0:59.0	I hear it from missionaries, I hear it from new converts. I hear it from lifelong members.
1:05.0	One insightful Latter-day Saint, Sister Darla Isaacson, has observed that Satan has somehow managed to make
1:11.7	covenants and commandments seem like curses and condemnations. For some, he has turned
1:20.4	the ideals and inspiration of the gospel into self-loathing and misery-making. So today, as we look at this incredible set of chapters,
1:32.8	especially chapters 12, 13, and 14, often called the sermon at the temple, it's the repeat
1:40.5	of the sermon on the mount in Matthew 5, 6, and 7, we get to see a glimpse into
1:50.0	Jesus Christ giving us the blueprints for a perfect life, for this handbook that it is, guides us along that covenant path, that covenant journey,
2:05.9	to becoming more and more like him.
2:08.8	And when we look at your identities, as described by President Russell M. Nelson,
2:14.3	a child of God, a child of the covenant, and a disciple of Christ, this
2:19.1	requires all kinds of help and instructions along the way. It would be as a simple object
2:26.8	lesson if you were teaching young children or even teenagers. You could take in a pile
2:33.0	of Legos and dump them out on the table and say, go, build,
2:39.0	make this into what it was intended to become. And they would probably look at you with
