0:00.0	We're just so excited to talk about the time that Jesus spent with the Nephites and the
0:04.9	Lamanites in the new world. And we're going to give a perspective here that might be helpful
0:11.3	as you read these chapters. And this is a covenantal perspective. No surprise, we've been talking
0:17.1	about covenants a lot, and actually so has God. The scriptures are very much focused on his covenants with us and the covenants he's
0:24.3	offered us so that we can return back to his presence.
0:27.9	And let's just spend, just as a review, a reminder of the two major covenants from the
0:34.4	ancient times, from the time of the Bible. It's two covenantal mountains.
0:39.3	We have the Abrahamic covenant, and symbolically we might say that that comes from Mount Moriah.
0:45.3	And then we have the Sinai covenant with Moses and the Israelites after God had saved them from Egyptian bondage.
0:53.3	So the covenant path in some ways crosses right between these two mountains, and it is Jesus
1:00.3	that binds us all together.
1:02.5	And as we've talked about just briefly, the Abrahamic covenant is all about God's promises
1:08.5	to us.
1:10.1	The Mosaic covenant is what God invited us to promise to Him.
1:14.9	So it's our promises to God.
1:17.6	And this is summarized by the Ten Commandments, which explain or offer a pathway for us
1:24.7	to show our loving loyalty back to God. When God offered this covenant,
1:29.0	he basically said, here's how I would like for you to show me your love and loyalty so that
1:35.1	you can prosper in the land. Okay, so that's just the overview. Let's make this even more
1:43.9	exciting. Let's think this even more exciting.
1:45.2	Let's think about the time of Jesus.
1:47.3	He gives the sermon on the mount.
