Summary

In this episode we discuss how taking one Scripture, passage, or principle in isolation can actually lead us to do ungodly things. This is all about keeping the totality of Scripture in our minds as we make decisions, navigate life, and seek the Lord. Hey everybody and welcome to I just want to talk about the Bible. I think that today,

0:11.2

this episode right now is going to be a little bit shorter than some. And that's just how it's

0:16.5

going to be. Some episodes are going to be much longer than others. I'm not necessarily striving to keep it

0:23.4

within a certain time frame just because the very nature of what we do here is going to vary a lot.

0:29.1

For example, if I'm answering a question, that might only take five to ten minutes, whereas

0:35.0

if I'm sharing some large thing that the Lord has showed me,

0:38.5

that could take 45 minutes for an hour. And so I'm going to try to not be long-winded or

0:43.5

anything, but I'm not going to abbreviate it either. So, but today I'll be a little bit shorter,

0:49.6

and we are going to be discussing what I hope will be a useful tool in your hand as you read

0:54.6

the Bible and think through topics and that it'll also be a practical tool for you just to use

0:59.1

in day-to-day life. So the title of today is it is also written. It is also written. And some of

1:08.3

you have already identified where that comes from and is going to be the

1:12.5

temptation account in the life of Jesus, in the life of Jesus. One specific aspect of it. So we're

1:19.8

familiar with the temptation account. Jesus has come onto the scene. He has been baptized and immediately

1:25.8

he is led by the spirit up into the wilderness

1:28.8

to be tempted by the devil. And we know that the Lord Jesus overcomes all the temptations,

1:35.2

all the temptations. But I want to look at one specific tactic of the enemy and how Jesus

1:40.9

responded to it in this passage. Now, we know that all three times Jesus' answer was,

1:45.8

it is written, it is written, it is written.

1:48.1

He was always coming back with the Word of God

1:50.7

in response to the enemy's temptation.

1:52.7

And that is a lesson in and of itself.
