Welcome back my friends to the morning mindset. I hope you are ready to get your minds aligned with the truth of God and I am hopeful as well

that 2020 is off to a great start for you. I know that the new year brings

all kinds of new challenges for most of us and quite truthfully my friends I am

praying for you I'm praying that God uses this morning mindset

and the words that he brings to you through his word each morning to be a tremendous encouragement to you.

Many of you have done so and I appreciate the opportunity to meet you and get to know a little bit of your story. We've begun the letter of second

Peter and we started right in with chapter 1 verse number one and I want to pick up

there at the end of verse one where Peter says that he is a servant and

apostle of Jesus Christ and he's writing to those who have obtained a faith of equal

standing with his by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ.

Now there are a few things in here that I think are important to draw out.

Notice first of all, the way that Peter describes the process of coming to faith.

He says that he and his readers have obtained a faith of equal standing. That means equal amongst each other, that they are all equal in the kind of faith that

they have. It is all just this basic childlike faith in Jesus Christ. There are

no hierarchies involved. But I think the choice of

the word obtained is very interesting. You see obtaining something is like reaching out to take it, reaching out to receive it, going after it, so

to speak.

And Peter, I think, is making the point that this is not something that God just allows to pour out on you with no

participation in your own part. You see, faith is a choice, isn't it? It's an action. Now of course
