Hey there, I'm Julie Slattery and this is Java with Julie. This podcast is a production of

authentic intimacy and ministry dedicated to reclaiming God's design for sexuality. My guest on

0:11.8

Java with Julie today is Dr. Preston Sprinkle, and I'm really excited to share this conversation

with you. Within the last decade, we've been swept up in a massive cultural shift in how

0:23.1

we see gender, marriage, and sexuality. And as God's people, we're trying to navigate

Preston is the author of many books, including People to Be Loved, and will link to his resources

on our podcast page.

1:28.2

There's not a lot of us out there. It can be really lonely.

1:30.4

Yes. I've read some of your books and listened to some podcast episodes,

1:35.9

and one thing that strikes me about the way that you address, particularly LGBTQ issues, is you don't compromise God's word,

1:46.9

but you're the most compassionate voice I've ever heard on the topic in terms of just really wanting to understand people's story and their

1:53.8

pain. And I wonder, how did that evolve in you? Well, it's kind of a long back story. I mean, I did begin my research in this topic as an academic looking at an academic issue.

2:06.6

So I, you know, read lots of books, got the commentaries out, did all this academic research.
