282 for Wineab, where we teach you four rules to help you stop living

paycheck to paycheck, get out of debt and save more money.

At the beginning of this year, I went for no or very little granularity.

I went to lots of cash.

I consolidated all of our categories and our personal budget down to very, very few.

And if you were following along on the podcast, I might have mentioned now and again that it has been a total 100% epic failure.

It has given me anxiety, it has led to more stress, it has led to poor conversations between me and my wife. By poor I mean

just we weren't really getting to the meat of issues we were having to talk about

all this surface stuff because it all felt very

swirly very nebulous very undefined and we just couldn't get our finger on why

we weren't feeling so hot about the money, why I wasn't and no, I think that goes for Julie as well.

At the end of the day, we were so nebulous in our categories lumping everything under

bills, lumping all this stuff other

under spending other that we I just wasn't feeling content I didn't have the

feeling that our money was actually going to things we really care about

and that's where the anxiety came from that's where the stress came from

so we're going back to granular.

Not crazy.

We're not getting the toothpaste category in there just yet.

But we are breaking bills out again.

We are breaking things out into housing, transportation, giving.
