and preparing for a very important trip on a very important case. So I thought I would do this one

like you who, like me, is a survivor. And not that it was easy, but it's great that you're here

and we can talk about this today. So we'll start off with what is your profession, Steve?

I am, for most of my adult life, I've been a public interest advocate, helping mount campaigns for

groups that work on human rights, the liberties, and mostly the environment. I've been working

with the Natural Resources Defense Council for almost 40 years now. And I'm also an author.

I wrote a previous book called Next of Kin, which is about chimpanzees and American sign language.

And then there's this new book, which has been weighing on me for decades and has finally

seen the light of day today, today, today, April 26th, when we're recording. And what Steve is
