Well, our topic today is a difficult one. What do you do as a parent when you've discovered that your child has been abused?

The headlines are fuller of accounts of childhood sexual abuse, but sometimes we need to be reminded that behind every headline is a family.

And as we agree with you, we also want to equip you.

We've recently received several emails at AuthenticNC from parents who've discovered that their children have been sexually violated.

And we're going to answer some of those emails in today's conversation. You know, abuse cannot be erased from a child's

memory, but it can be handled in a way that minimizes future trauma and anxiety. And that's exactly

what we want to equip you with today. My guest, Dr. Debbie Grubenick, has devoted her professional life to helping traumatized children and their parents.

She spent decades working with in the foster care system, meeting with parents in her private practice and teaching trauma-informed care to professionals.

Well, today she works with Alia, an organization

that is focused on transforming the foster care system. Debbie and I will talk about what actually

constitutes childhood sexual abuse, and what are the signs or red flags that you might see in your

child? When should you report abuse? And how can you be diligent but not fearful as you raise your young children in a culture
