Summary
What if the ultimate goal for our business is to become INSIGNIFICANT within it? I was in a network marketing company that celebrated rank advancements and sales by putting you in front of a large room full of people. The spotlight was such a big deal. It was the goal. It was coveted by everybody so much that it became even more valuable than money. And so, the first time I gave an actual presentation, I felt ecstatic about it. I thought 'This is what leadership is.'
However, a powerful conversation completely changed my mindset on leadership.
This guy, who at the time was 10x more successful than any other person in our company, told me that his value as a leader is not tied to his personal results, but by the results of the people on his team.
He said that it's not about how many times you stand in front of a room, but how many stories you help create for other people.
You see, the more successful we become, the less significant we need to become as well.
In this episode, I share the dangers of ego-driven leadership and what it means to build a true leadership legacy.
