All right, welcome to episode 269. Hello, my friend. Welcome to a fresh new episode of new mindset who this and if you chose to listen

0:58.0

this episode because of the title, I say good. It's a it's not clickbait. But it's also not like an expose where I'm like putting myself on blast.

1:08.0

I'm not like a serial ghost or anything like that, but like most people I am human and unfortunately in my past I have ghosted people and I have perspective from it from why I did it.

1:22.0

And over the past couple of months, I have the additional perspective of I'd say I don't know like five, ten dozen stories from people telling me their ghosting stories, how it made them feel to either be ghosted

1:37.0

or to ghost someone else. So all this in perspective, I thought it would be a good chance to do an episode to dive into why people ghost and then in turn to give you what I think is a powerful mindset to have in your back pocket if you are on the receiving end of someone ghosting you because the

unfortunate reality is you probably will at some point. So I'll hop right into this episode. I'm excited to do it. I'll say a quick thank you for sharing a podcast if you have. I'd love it if you share this episode in particular after you've listened to it, maybe share with a friend who was just ghosted or keeps getting ghosted and can use like a pick me up mindset, pick me up.

2:18.0

And also don't forget to check out new mindset who does calm that's where you can pick up a journal. I have three for sale there. One is for life clarity. That's the new mindset journal. One is for calming your anxious thoughts. That's the unbothered journal and one is for relationships. That one is called single is your superpower. So that's it. That's the plug. Thank you for listening and thank you for supporting me. But let's talk about this topic here ghosting.

2:47.0

And frankly, I decided to do this episode because I don't know what it is, but lately, I don't know what's in the water. Maybe it's because it is kind of unseasonably warm here in Chicago, at least. And I don't know maybe people are like starting to rethink their their quarantine relationships or like all the people they've led on during quarantine or something.

3:07.0

But I've been seeing a lot of ghosting lately people have been sharing their stories of being ghosted a lot with me. And I've also seen like a lot of posts about it on social media like a lot of bitching about it and deservedly so of course like it sucks to be ghosted. And of course you deserve better than to be ghosted.

3:28.0

But you know, I see all this and I take it all in and I think I don't think the answer to ghosting is to complain about it. I don't think the answer is either to beat yourself up about it. I don't think it's to become angry with the person who ghosted you.

3:42.0

I don't think you need to revisit it in any form. And I'm not suggesting some numb like closed off mindset towards this.

3:51.0

What I want to suggest is is a healthy mentality towards it. That's a healthy mentality towards an unhealthy habit that people have unfortunately developed and it's ghosting.

4:04.0

So to start, let's just get on the same page about what ghosting is ghosting is like the permanent silent treatment, right. It's not when someone takes two days to respond to your text or their communication style doesn't match up with yours.

4:19.0

It's when you go out with someone maybe on a date or two or three or maybe even four like there's some egregious ghosters out there. And then following that it's boom.

4:30.0

You never hear from them again. They don't reach out. They don't respond to you either. It's nothing. It's like they're gone. It's like they don't exist. They don't exist. And to them, you don't exist. That's ghosting.

4:44.0

And just to get it out of the way, it's wrong. It sucks for whoever is ghosted and no one deserves that. No one deserves to be on the receiving end of the silent treatment because it leaves you with this powerless feeling.

5:00.0

And that's a vulnerable state to be in powerless. That's powerless to know why. Why would someone just dip on you like that? That's powerless to engage them in a conversation to understand it, powerless to express your frustration over it.

5:14.0

And that's honestly probably the worst feeling in the world. I don't know. Maybe I'm like overly Taipei, but I hate that. It's so unsettling. It's so frustrating.

5:23.0

No ability to ask or answer questions and you feel thrown aside. You feel discarded. You feel that you weren't you weren't given the time of day. You weren't given any respect. You feel like dirty and disrespected.
