Well, hey there, I'm super excited that you're here today because there was a massive update from the

0:05.6

American College of Sports Medicine. The acronym for that is ACSM this week. And it's been kind of like

0:13.3

all the rage in the fitness space when I'm following people with PhDs, when I'm looking at physical

0:19.1

therapy pages, when I'm looking at personal trainers.

0:21.8

All of us have used this guideline, and I should say that their guidelines are part of the

0:27.4

textbook, the certifications for a lot of these fields, personal training, physical therapy,

0:32.8

and a lot of other ones, sports conditioning, all of those things. And they made a big update recently. The last time

0:39.3

that their guidelines for exercise and strength training in general had been updated was 2009.

0:46.9

scattered. It's been disconnected. We're using it in different ways,

1:11.9

but this new update from the ACSM really has pulled it all together in a useful picture

1:18.1

and updated their guidelines. I'm excited to share with you some of the new changes. And while a lot of

1:23.7

the information actually isn't new to me, like some of it I've already been aware of because of different studies, because of staying

1:31.1

up to day in continuing education and those things.

1:33.3

But there were some things that were definitely different that kind of blew old concepts

1:39.5

out of the water or kind of changed the general guidelines.

1:42.4

So I'm really excited to share some of those with you.

1:45.1

Now, this update was done on 137 systematic reviews and data from over 30,000 participants.

1:52.8

So this is the biggest, most comprehensive analysis of strength training ever done.
