They're the host of The Dating Detectives, one of my favorite podcasts, even though I'm really not someone who's ever been into true crime.

I love the show, and I also had the honor of being a guest on the show a few months ago.

McKenzie is a private investigator with over 20 years of experience,

and Hannah is a writer and comedian,

and together they have built a show that I think takes the most ethical

and compassionate approach to true crime that I've ever come across.

And their show introduced a term that I had never heard of before.

Maybe you have. And that term is dog fishing. So this is different than cat fishing, which is when

someone uses a fake photo or identity online to cover up who they are. But dog fishing is when

they are who they say they are on the surface, like they're not covering up

their identity, but the deeper you go, the more you realize that they've been lying, manipulating,

or scamming you the entire time. And today, we're going to break down exactly how that

happens in the context of dating. And in this episode, we talk about the early red flags that are easy to, you know,

brush off, the psychology behind love bombing and why it works, how people use their own

traumas and unmet needs against you. And we get into practical safety tips for dating app users.

Also, we talk about what do you actually do if you think you're being dogfished. At the end,

we're going to answer a dating dilemma from someone who's been upfront about her boundaries and
