maybe you're just here in this podcast for the first time. How do you make your

budget stick?

What happens, and this happens with our food,

our finances and our fitness, right

at the beginning of the year,

is that we get super excited, super stoked,

super motivated, just all geared up, ready for the enemy of all resolutions, which is perfection.

And I can't believe we actually have to build a rule around this, but the third rule of WINAP is essentially

saying there is no perfect budget. There's just budgeting. No such thing is doing it perfectly. You're just doing it.

And when you're doing it, I guess that is perfect. But you have to be aware of this desire

to have everything be perfect, to be a perfect gessor at what you'll

spend in groceries, to have perfect willpower to resist overspending a little bit when you go out

or to just have the sheer grit necessary to resist

eating out when you're frazzled and you're tired and it's been a long day and you just want to eat out right? So yeah, we

like to see a little grit, we like to see a little willpower, we like to see

excitement around budgeting, but no absolutely not so the way

that you resolution proof your budget for 2017 is simply to accept that it will never be perfect ever ever ever ever

It's just going to always need adjusting you always need to roll with the punches a little bit that third rule

so you've given every dollar a job you've looked ahead and broken up those larger
