Summary

On December 14, 2012, Scarlett Lewis’ 6-year-old son Jesse was killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School. In her grief, she stumbled on a note he had written in chalk shortly before his death: “nurturing, healing, and love.” These three words left behind by her son became fuel for her life’s work, the Choose Love Movement. In today’s show, Jeff and Scarlett discuss how grief transforms us, and how healing is possible through practicing forgiveness. Scarlett also shares how we can teach compassion and other essential skills in schools to help prevent future attacks from troubled kids.
