| 0:15.0 | leave your comfort zone and live a fulfilling and purposeful life. Let's go. |
| 0:46.0 | All right, welcome to episode 254. Hello, my friend. Welcome to a fresh new episode of new mindset who this it is the final episode of |
| 0:59.0 | 2020 and it's kind of a relief to say I suppose to be able to say it's 2021 that we've made it that there's light at the end of the tunnel that there are new experiences, new perspectives, new |
| 1:13.0 | people waiting for us there. You know, personally, I'm very grateful for what I've learned this past year, what I was able to learn this past year. And you know, without going into too much detail like this is one of the most |
| 1:28.0 | fundamentally life changing years for me, I found all kinds of things that have become very, very important to me. I've found what I think is my voice, my |
| 1:39.0 | my footing, my vision, my favorite pair of pants, everything. So this this has been a big year for me amidst all the all the craziness and I've learned a lot from a mindset perspective. And I want to take this |
| 1:53.0 | episode to do a reflection on what it is that I learned. And I think that's what's popular with podcasters and YouTubers right to do like a year in review kind of thing. |
| 2:05.0 | So you could consider this my year in review episode, but it's not going to be like a, you know, over the top, sad kind of like Sarah McLaughlin music rocking in the background kind of vibe. Like this is in an |
| 2:18.0 | episode to say that, you know, you know, this year taught the value of family and health and the power of solitude and what it means to be alone. Like I've talked about all those things. Certainly I've talked about the power of gratitude, the power of peace and quiet and the difference |
| 2:33.0 | between feeling alone and being lonely. Like I talked about that. So I want to flip this a little bit and talk about the biggest thing that I've learned this past year that's going to make 2021 your best year ever. |
| 2:47.0 | You're most fulfilling year ever, you're most fun and adventurous and curious year ever. And I want you to have like energy about you going into next year and like a big goofy smile on your face because you're armed with this mindset. So here it is. It's one thing. It's only one thing I consider doing like a list of things, but I settled on just keeping it simple. It's one thing. And here it is. Here's what I've learned this past year. |
| 3:12.0 | And here's the headline and then follow me because it's going to sound weird at first. But this year I learned the power of ego. Ego. Yeah, I learned how powerful and like actually compassionate your ego is. That's that thing that makes you confident. That thing that inspires you to do more and say more. Maybe be a bit reckless. |
| 3:35.0 | Ego, the power of ego because it's been my ego, my definition of ego that has led me always always always with compassion and with vision to strive to be the one who always tries because I care. |
| 3:53.0 | That's it. My ego has taught me that that caring is cool. That indifference is not cool. That above all things in life, I want to be the one who cares. I want to be the one who is willing to care, who is willing to try, who is willing to empathize both with myself and with others. |
| 4:14.0 | And my ego has taught me that I can create a life and a character and a drive and a vision that is anything but indifferent. And this has been so, so powerful for me. And I want you to realize this as well. |
| 4:29.0 | Because when you live a life and you're no longer indifferent, when you become that person who is willing to care, who is willing to be the first person to care, to be vulnerable, who doesn't play games, who doesn't give into the bullshit. |
| 4:44.0 | That's when your life truly does change. And it all starts with this thing called your ego, your ego. |
| 4:52.0 | And I know that might sound weird because a culture and pretty much anything that's ever been written on the topic has villainized this word. |
| 5:01.0 | And rightly so, I suppose, because when we consider ego, we think of things like selfishness, narcissism, we think of apathy, we think of indifference to others. |
| 5:12.0 | We think of someone who thinks they're hot shit, who is loud and annoying and brags a lot, who probably lives in Miami and wears all kinds of robes and lotions and probably a pinky ring. |
