Hi this is Steve everyone in Hollywood wants to make a hit but these days one hit just isn't enough

What the studios are looking for is what they call a property an idea or a character that can generate hit after hit after hit.

Properties like Star Wars, Star Trek, and superheroes are worth billions of dollars, and the granddaddy of all movie properties is a character that's been thrilling us for more than 50 years.

It is of course the British secret agent with a taste for vodka martinis, fast cars, and beautiful

women.

Bond, James Bond.

However, on the cinnophiles, we're interested in talking about great films, a category which unfortunately a lot of the Bond movies don't quite qualify for.

However, there is one that both John and I really like, a film which returns 007 to his gritty origins with an actor that is as tough

and dangerous as any that has ever killed for Queen and Country.

It also happens to be the most recent film we've done on the podcast.

In 2006, the James Bond Saga was restarted with Casino Royale starring Daniel Craig.

Unfortunately, this one is a little tougher to get. You can buy it from iTunes and Amazon,

but there are no rentals available. However, I just checked and the Blu-ray, which is pretty good,

is currently on sale on Amazon for $5.99, which is a great deal. So that's James Bond and Casino

Royale coming this Friday to the Cinephiles.
