Well, I grew up in southwest Miami, which was the gateway, I think, to the Everglades, and at that time it looked like the Everglades was a long time ago. And then you ended up moving to D.C. for...

I came to D.C. I was 20 years old and my ambition was to go to school and never quite made the college dream but ended up in Europe after a certain amount of time

in the wine business and just remain there.

Because you were working at a wine store.

I started in retail at 21 years old.

Yeah.

And what was that like?

It was great.

I didn't know anything about Wine at 21 and largely the American consumer didn't either so

we sort of educated ourselves and it's pretty ambitious I guess and enthusiastic so I was hired by a bigger wine store, the second wine store, and I stayed there for, well from 74 to 79 and had a chance to really explore and discover and learn and and grow.

So you dug retail?

I really like it.

The consumer's the best. People sort of said, hey, Bobby, once you go on this trip with me to Europe?

I went actually just when I turned, just after I turned 21, I went to Portugal first.

I went with a friend who was in the trade and he saw that I was very keen on

exploring the origin of production and said I'm going to Portugal I'm in the trade I can get you this

trip and he and I went
