Summary

I'm coming at you with another Motivational Minisode, tough love style!

We're talking about indulgences - the repetitive food & drink choices that are keeping you from your goals.

Here's the thing: despite the fact that you keep choosing them, they're almost never worth it.

Sure, you're in the habit of giving in to temptation, cravings & social pressure so it's easy to say "yes" than "no".

But it's not worth what you're giving up in favor of a minute or two of indulgence.

This minisode is going to bring the tough love to help you do the work, invest the effort and finally leave the excuses behind.

Hello everybody and welcome back to the Primal Potential podcast and you know what we are doing

0:29.9

today. We are going to kick off a motivational mini-sode for those of you who are newer to the

0:36.3

show and I know there are a bunch of you. Hello every once in a while I like to pop in with a

shorter, more direct mini-sode to get you fired up and I think that today's is really timely because

0:50.2

when this airs it will be round about mid-October right as we head into holiday treats are everywhere

0:57.0

season. The things that we indulge in are usually the reasons we haven't met our goals.

1:05.7

We aren't not reaching our goals because we don't work out enough or because we don't sleep

1:10.0

enough even though those things can certainly help us improve our health. They aren't what I call

1:16.4

our big rocks. The big rocks are the indulgences, the food and the alcohol and here's the point

1:23.7

that I really want to make today and you might not be really receptive to it at first but hang

1:29.4

with me. That stuff that we indulge in it's almost never worth it. Tasty? Yes. Worth it? No. I get a lot

1:41.6

of emails from people saying Elizabeth when you say what you eat at the end of the podcast is that

1:47.4

really what you eat because it seems like you rarely indulge. Don't you miss the treats?

1:52.5

Now it's true and first of all yes it's what I eat and I do rarely indulge. I spend most of my

1:58.6

life indulging every single day. Basically whenever I felt like it whether it was a candy bar from

2:03.7

the vending machine or Mexican takeout or a pint of ice cream if I felt a craving I indulged it

2:11.6

because it felt too hard to tell myself no. So the stuff that I used to indulge in it just doesn't

2:21.4

give me the satisfaction physically or emotionally that even comes close to comparing to the satisfaction
