I like history books, I like biographies in particular and we wanted to talk about a couple

books. I was told, hey talk about some books. How did they relate to budgeting? Well,

there is one that relates to budgeting in a big way. A very complex individual, it's a

biography about John D Rockefeller. My favorite book I've read in the last 10 years

is called Titan, the biography of John D Rockefeller. He was no saint, he was also no sinner, he was very interesting. It was a great, it was gray. It was gray. And that's what makes everyone interesting. No one's perfect and no one's perfectly evil.

And maybe, I don't know. But this guy was complex.

He was ruthless and super charitable at the same time. But that wasn't why I was thinking

about Titan today, although I do have a portrait of John D Rockefeller in my office. I

really liked that book. I liked a lot of what he stood for. He got things done. He was a big thinker, extremely competitive.

It's just a fantastic book. I highly recommend that if you have 30 hours of listening time that you would like to dedicate to it.

It is so good.

Great perspective on history in the late 19th century and how that all went down and

just so many things are interwoven into that book

I can't get enough of it. I just wanted to point out though if you mean you don't

have to read Titan or whatever but I wanted to point out that John D Rockefeller one of

the richest men in the history of the world, one of the great

Titans of early industry.

On my list is a book about Vanderbilt, you know, the Commodore.
