Welcome to episode one.

We was walking up the dark path down to the, to the, you know, the aforementioned place of war

in which we were going to meet. And it was, it was just outside of Maryland County right

near Sharpsburg. We were heading up. We had woke up early in the morning. You know, I was

afraid I didn't want to miss it, you know, so to speak. And, you know, we had woke up early in the morning. You know, I was afraid I didn't want to miss it,

you know, so to speak. And, you know, we get up there. I get there. Show up. I got my gun. I got

my musket. I got my confiscated Remington rifle that I took off of the body of a union soldier.

And I get there and I just see all these people on the ground covered in red,

writhing, moaning.

I look at my watch, 6 p.m.

We slept the whole day, Miss Dantietam, whole thing, showed up at the end, just looking around

going, well, I hopefully ain't't going to be mad at me.

You know, so my first notion was to play dead.

You know, kind of pretend I was at the battle.

I had instructed all my comrades to do the same.

We was, you know, shooting each other's clothes, burning them up a little bit,

rolling around in the dirt and mud to make ourselves look a little more worse for wear.

And then, you know, nightfall came. We saw nobody was coming.
