Hi, this is Steve.

As most of you know, the 10-year rule has been a part of the cinephiles since the very

beginning.

The purpose of the rule is to make sure that we're talking about films that have truly

stood the test of time.

However, the rule also means that on January 1st of each year, an entirely new set of

movies is suddenly available for us to explore.

Now for the last three years, we've left the choice of what we should do first up to

you, and the fact is, it hasn't even been close.

Quentin Tarantino's and Glorious Bastard won in a landslide in 2009, and Christopher

Nolan's inception dominated the voting in 2010.

But things were very different when we asked you to pick a movie from 2011.

None of the movies received more than 20% of the vote, and the race was neck and neck

between two films.

For a while, it looked like the raid redemption had it locked, but in the last minute, an

underdog came from behind to win the day by a single vote, which is strangely appropriate

for a movie about an underdog team with a bunch of unlikely stars finding a way to beat

one of the most unbeatable records in the history of baseball.

Moneyball, directed by Bennett Miller and starring Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill is a unique, insightful,

and even challenging film.

Based on the book by Michael Lewis, it charts the A's General Manager Billy Bean in his

quest to build a team that can beat the all-powerful Yankees at a third of the price.
