I'm awesome. How are you? Thanks for taking on time. My pleasure. I mean who are you?

I don't know. I mean where did you come from?

I'm from here. I'm from New York City.

And grew up here, then in Westchester and then came back here for college and stayed for quite a while longer and then escaped to the west coast but not to San Francisco, escaped to Seattle for six years,

and then came back, and then went to San Francisco.

Did they sell you a bill of goods?

They're like, it's just like San Francisco,

and then you got there and you're like, wow, it's smaller

and there's a lot of rain.

I loved Seattle yeah I still

what was the scene like it's you know it's a small city and it loves being a small

city and it has all the things that San Francisco has it has an extraordinary sort of, you know, back field of farmers and purveyors, and it had that really, you know, well, well, I wouldn't say before but certainly on par with and because it's

obviously farther north the quality of the produce there is extraordinary quality

the cooking is amazing and and I got there, I got there in 2000

and that was right as the Washington wine industry was taking off.

And in six years that industry doubled. And so that was nice because that's when I was

really getting into actually thinking that you could like write about wine and
