So let's start by going back to March 9th, 1997

and talk about the events that led up to that night and exactly what happened.

Well, Biggie was back in California after being away.

He was celebrating his return to California, kind of making a big to do about it.

And this is six months after the events in Las Vegas in which Tupacrure was murdered.

So it was a very kind of precarious situation.

And there were some people that felt that Biggie probably

was making a mistake coming out here so quickly

after that event in Vegas.

And wasn't he even not going to come or he had,

what was that about a trip to London?

Yeah, there was some, there's some conflicting information about that.

There was tentatively a scheduled trip to London, but evidently Puffy wanted Biggie to come out here in order to promote the album

and to kind of make some headway here in the States with the promotion of the album release. So he comes out and we have the 11th annual Soul Train Music Awards at the Shrine Auditorium and kind of take people through what happened that night a little that kind of set the

stage for what was to come. I mean he was getting booed he was getting the West
