Yo, today's QOD is anybody telling you to follow your passion is already rich.

Here we go. Welcome back to the quote of the day show.

I'm your host Sean Croxton and Sean Croxton.com. We got a brand new speaker on the show today. His name is Scott Galloway, aka Prof G. I love Scott Galloway because he keeps it very real. He's a no-nonsense kind of guy. You ask him a question. He's going to give you the real deal. You could be like,

how can I become more successful? He's not going to beat around the bush. He's going to say,

you've got to work your ass off. How can I have more balance in my life? No, no, balance is a myth.

Should I follow my passion? Absolutely not. Don't follow your passion. That's something that

really I've kind of had a shift on over

the last several years since I read, it's right here, Cal Newport's so good they can't ignore you.

I used to be one of those follow your passion kind of guys. Well, most people, I think it's like

four out of five people, don't even know what they're passionate about. So follow your passion

is just

it's just moot advice. Like it doesn't make any sense to a lot of people. Number two is that

your passion may not be profitable. There may not be any demand for your passion. So you're

out there doing this thing you're passionate about and nobody needs it. It's not solving anybody's

problem. Nobody wants to

pay for it and you end up in a whole heap of trouble. And so I highly encourage you to read Scott

Gallowie's book because he writes about this quite a bit. The Algebra of Wealth is a pretty good

chunk on this topic. And also again, so good they can't ignore you by Cal Newport.

They're essentially recommended you to

try different things and find out what you're good at and then, you know, put in the work,

make that your craft and as you become better and better and better at it and you start making

money from it and people start to notice you, then you start becoming more passionate about it.
