Today I'm going to talk to you about the brow-beaten husband

and the destructive power of a contentious wife who can succeed in making a miserable home and a

miserable husband.

Now heads up, here's a warning.

Some of you sweet, tender-hearted ladies are going to misapply this and think that you're the one.

While the ones who it really is for are going to let it bonk right off their forehead.

Wives have the God-given ability

to make a home for their husband that is welcoming, cheerful, encouraging, satisfying, and peaceful.

Or by letting sin rule, wives can destroy their homes by being chilly, criticizing, unfriendly, and quarrelsome, creating a hostile

environment for their husband and the kids. It really can cease being a home and become a

miserable war zone. In our day women are very vocal

about how terrible and abusive men are, but I would like to lean in the canoe the

other direction and point out how many husbands are hounded and chided and ridiculed

and nagged to death by quarrelsome fault-finding wives. Proverse 219 says better to dwell in a corner of a house top than in a house shared with a contentious

woman.

She is there at the door when he walks in ready to pounce.

In her estimation he is always too early or too late. He never does
