My topic today is don't be dumb. There are so many ways to be dumb and yet

the options for us to be wise are always there at our right hand when the

dumb opportunity presents itself. Sometimes the dumb is not

horrendous but it is still nevertheless dumb. So how can we have the kind of outlook that enables us to see the options clearly, where each option is leading and what the wise choice is, given the circumstances?

Every day is filled with opportunities to be dumb.

One of the kids knocks over the milk and we have two immediate options for a reaction

and one second to decide whether to be wise or foolish. Just because we can justify a

reaction in our head does not in any way make it a good reaction. If the

reaction begins with, but he, that is a clue that you're not being

wise. A wise woman is in constant training to see the outcome beforehand. If I get angry over the spilled milk, that will increase

the number of troubles I have. If I respond with kindness, I will have diffused the

number of troubles to zero. No biggie, let's wipe it up and move on to the next thing.

Spilled milk is such a simple example. Most things, in fact the next thing, might be far more complicated or far more difficult to resist.

And that next thing is just lying in weight right around the corner.

If we are in reaction mode, it will get us for sure. It's like

tumbling down the stairs all day long. But if we are on guard with centuries

posted we can navigate this perilous journey we are on today with joy and

wisdom. This is Holy Spirit work and we must be walking in the spirit to walk in wisdom.

Remember the world is trying to press you into its mold.

This is not a part-time activity but a full press all the time. We always have two choices to act or to react. Of course to act is

far to be preferred and to act in wisdom in accordance with God's word is
