Good morning everybody. Today is Thursday, June 21st. It is officially summer solstice for

those of you on the edges of the continent. You're going to get a very late night. Hopefully

that means eight, nine PMT times, especially if you're up here in Canada, longest day of

the golf season in the northern hemisphere. So hopefully you get out at least get in

nine holes to enjoy one of the best days of the year. And today's first thoughts episode

looking at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. We'll hone in on Dave Canalis, the offensive coordinator,

first time OC taking over for a team that is going to go through a lot of change and look

a lot different in 2023 than they did in 2022. So let's start there. Tom Brady is out

a regime change with canalis stepping in a team that's going to look very different.

It's likely to be Baker Mayfield starting week one. But what we do know is that this

team goes from the no risk it, no biscuit approach that it has been lingering in for a

little while now where they were second in pass rate 30th and running to a team that's

going to run the football a whole lot more. Interesting article was written about Dave

canalis offense. He's a guy who comes from Seattle. Canalis was in the Seahawks system

for 13 years working under Pete Carroll went through the entire Russell Wilson era. He

was on the quarterbacking side from the coaching perspective. And so you know what that means.

We talked about Seattle a couple days ago. This was a team that everybody wanted to throw

more was antiquated in their approach despite being explosive a lot of running a lot of emphasis

on the running backs trying to create those explosive plays but not doing so necessarily

in an efficient play calling manner. Unfortunately with canalis being a first time offensive coordinator,

we typically see guys that come from systems like that carry it over. And the article that

was written talked about how the quarterback position within a canalis offense is deemphasized.
