Welcome to Rates and barrels. It is Wednesday, February 16th. Derek Van Riper here with Enosaris. If you were paying

0:21.7

close attention on episode one of pitcher week, we made it pretty clear there was probably going

0:27.2

to be an extra episode this week. Well, today is that extra episode. Bonus. Yeah, it's a bonus. We're

0:34.0

focusing on pitchers going in the 100 to 200 overall range based on the NFBC's

0:40.0

ADP, a ton of interesting arms in this group, really only two tiers worth the pitchers. They're just

0:45.9

two very large tiers full of guys that everybody, I think, wants to think and talk about. So,

0:51.9

lots of ways you can play it. You could try and start building a

0:55.3

rotation from this group, which I have done. And I am not here to recommend to everyone, but we'll

0:59.6

explain how and why I did it over the course of this episode. Don't do as I do. Do as I say.

1:06.5

1:12.1

of what I do. Learn from me. Learn from my mistakes because I will continue to make them.

1:18.1

It's good, good blanket advice. So we're going to pick up where we left off on the last episode.

1:22.4

This is like tier five, I guess, technically, but more importantly, right outside the top 100 overall, where

1:28.9

Blake Snell is currently going in terms of ADP, really kind of a tale of two seasons.

1:34.3

In the second half, he shortened up the arsenal and got things back on track, sort of saved

1:38.4

himself from a disaster.

1:39.9

Walk rate for the year was still very high.

1:41.5

We know walks are generally going to be a part of the profile with Blake Snell. 12.5% was the walk rate though last season. Ruben Neabla's there as

1:49.9

the new pitching coach. There's some optimism about the Padres pitching in general as a result of

1:54.8

that. Plus, we're talking about a guy who's had a lot of success in the not so distant past. So

2:00.0

are you in on Blake Snell as someone who might be a tick undervalued?

2:04.3

Previously had some SP1 sort of results and gets treated more like a late two,
