Jack Slack, it's the Jack Slack podcast, and we're coming at you one week into 2025,

which means it's time to do the Slackie Awards 2024.

My awards, my rules, there's only four of them.

We used to have five and I got so bored doing the fifth, I cut it down.

Game plan of the year. Technical turnaround award for most improved fighter at the year,

breakout technique of the year and the coveted but why award for piss poor fight IQ.

Prestigious history, going back to 2014, I began them in written form at Fightland,

and then they became podcast form when I started podcasting.

And I think every year except 2019, I've done them.

2019, I did like a fight, I did a technical turnaround, but I didn't do some of the other categories.

And looking down my nominations this year,

between me and the Patreon Boys,

we come up with some good stuff.

I'm looking at this and I'm feeling a lot better than I did last year,

which sort of reflects how I'm feeling generally.

I think this year was pretty good.

Generally, like the UFC's standard,

they're still putting in the bare minimum,

picking up the paychecks, phoning it in and going home. But there's a lot of interesting stuff

happening in spite of efforts to make everything, I want to say, apex-sized. So game plan of the
