Well, if we could spend our last few minutes in Chapter 5, I'm actually going to water ski over most of it, and then spend some more serious time in the laymanite curse that we see within it. But we see in Chapter 5 more contention

coming from Laman and Laming. We're back to what we left back in chapter 4 before Nephi interrupted the narrative with his glorious Psalm.

The last thing we heard from Lehman and Lemmio is them grumbling, them plotting the death of Nephi.

Dad's gone, nothing stopping us, and so now we're going to come after

little brother in chapter five verse three yay they did murmur against me saying

our younger brother thinks to rule over us.

We have had much trial because of him.

Wherefore now let us slay him that we may not be afflicted more because of his words.

For behold, we will not have him to be our ruler, for it belongs

unto us who are the elder brethren to rule over this people.

And think about that, how quickly they'd forgotten the words of their father who had told them you

can still have my first blessing layman if you just follow your little brother you

can have the political power if you'll honor his religious role.

But Lehman wouldn't have any of it.

He's guilty of projecting his own problems onto his little brother. It's a scapegoat all over again. And he's trying to

rule, no that's never what he asked for. He's afflicting us. We're being tried by him

when it's always been the reverse.

It's so interesting what self-deception usually does.

And the more we deceive ourselves, the more we end up accusing others, even those that are trying to help

us like Nephi is.

And so what happens here?

It's interesting because Nephi is told by God to flee, to pick up and move.
