| 0:00.0 | Hello and welcome to the second episode of bouncing back with me, James Middleton. |
| 0:12.5 | Now, I woke up this morning a very happy man, actually, because every morning for the past four weeks, |
| 0:19.1 | I've been woken up to the sound of drilling. Now, as you know, |
| 0:22.1 | Barry, my next door neighbours, had his building work done and today it stopped. There was no |
| 0:27.0 | building work. I have never appreciated silence so much in my house than I have today. And it's always |
| 0:34.0 | kind of touch and go because when I'm recording this podcast and these episodes, I'm always slightly fearful that it's going to be quiet for a little bit and then |
| 0:42.3 | suddenly in comes the drill for five hours solid. So let's pray that Barry's had whatever he's done |
| 0:50.9 | to his house and it's finished. And I tell you what, Barry, if you are listening to this on the odd chance, I do plan on having quite a few house parties this summer when COVID is over. So for a second, don't think that you're going to come over and tell me to keep the noise down because you don't know what I've been going through this last four weeks. And actually, here's a little tip. If you're ever having a party at your house or a dinner party that you know is going to get a bit rowdy and out of hand, always invite the neighbour. Always invite them. Because if they say no, you've invited them, they feel included and then probably, hopefully won't be so much of an asshole when it comes to telling you to keep the noise down. But if they do come over, supply them with some good beer, champagne, wine, make them feel |
| 1:30.6 | relaxing at home. |
| 1:31.3 | And then if they do go and the party continues, then they don't really have a leg to stand on. |
| 1:36.6 | Anyway, that's enough about Barry. |
| 1:38.5 | He's getting a lot of airtime in these episodes. |
| 1:40.8 | So in today's episode, I'm going to be discussing a lot about discomfort and |
| 1:48.5 | being uncomfortable and the idea that it's good to be comfortable being uncomfortable. And if you |
| 1:54.8 | didn't get any of that, don't worry, it will make sense at the end of it. But it's something that |
| 1:59.8 | growing up and I think more in my later |
| 2:02.6 | years of my life, I say that like I'm some 55 year old man who's seen and done it all. I'm only 27. |
| 2:08.7 | But the things and the lessons that I've learned a lot in the past few years for me have really |
| 2:14.8 | come from being uncomfortable and experiencing elements of discomfort. |
| 2:21.3 | Now, I want to talk about challenges a little bit to start off with. I was thinking yesterday |
| 2:26.2 | after I'd finished my training session, how good it feels when you've worked your ass off |
| 2:32.3 | to then go and enjoy yourself, to then go and relax. And I've |
