This is CBSI in the world. I'm John Batchwood,

Bill Devlin, the Reverend Bill Devlin, 11 trips to Nigeria in these last years.

I spoke to him in the spring of 2021, when he was in Benoostate, which is

central Eastern Nigeria on the map. This is the most popular state in Africa.

Its prosperity is based on its natural resources and its people.

There's great promise for Nigeria, but the governance is

profoundly in question. No more so than what Bill has documented these last two years,

which is the persecution of Christian villages and churches by marauders

who are Islamists and identify themselves as from different groups that pray upon

the civilian population of Nigeria. We're not looking to the government to help,

not looking to the State Department to help. Everybody has an explanation about why they're not

going to get involved in internal Nigerian politics. We're looking at the volunteers and the

donations to help. Bill, ahead of you in Mangu is to rebuild the church that I see over your

shoulder in the photograph. You have the same challenge in Magcordi two years ago.
