This is CBSI in the world. My two colleagues, Bill Rajo and Hussain O'Connor here. We're discussing

the remains of the day of the conflict over Kashmir, which is part of a large canvas that's

been going on for many decades between two states that have history with each other of distrust and violence.

Right now, we're questioning about the strategic weapons because that was said to be a driver

for intervention from outside by the U.S. and its allies to both capitals saying stand back from the brink.

Mr. Ambassador, the question of strategic weapons, it's now a matter of conversation between

parties watching the Ukraine-Russia conflict because of the strike by drones against

strategic bombers in Russia and the statement by Russia that it will respond

disproportionately. All that is very diplomatic language. Your understanding of the nuclear

weapons for Pakistan and India, they match each other, they frighten each other, do they have the

apparatus which was once called fail-safe?

That's the term that was used in that video shown by Ukraine of the destruction of the bombers.

Fail-safe, checks and balances.

Or is the decision to use strategic weapons just closely held by a few commanding military officers?

I think it is, I think it is, there is a proper command and control on both sides.

But I think it is closely held because of the nature of the countries.

I mean, although India is a democracy,

and so it will have more civilian control over this process than Pakistan.

But again, it is not something that would be open to debate and discussion

in a parliamentary committee, for example.

On the Pakistani side, of course, the military is very much in control.

And again, both sides do understand that they have very emotional populations.
