Mr. Ambassador, there is a headline from Pakistan that got my attention immediately

about the troubles being so bad that a takeover is possible.

Pakistan crisis deep enough to attract military takeover.

The former Prime Minister Abbasay, is this something that has been true for some time?

Or is it with the failure of the government to respond to the food shortage,

to the flooding, to the deaths, and also to Imran Khan?

Has that created conditions that did not exist before all those catastrophes?

Historically, the Pakistan Army has got involved directly in politics.

It's always involved indirectly, but directly involved in politics and has taken over.

Only when it has been able to make the case, the politicians are unable to resolve things among themselves.

Imran Khan, zero-sum game in which he says that only he represents the people,

that his opponents are crooks and traitors, and should be legally not allowed to run.

And if they are allowed to run and they're an election, which he loses,

he will not accept the result, that creates the zero-sum game that usually has resulted in the military's intervention.

At the same time, Pakistan has a huge economic crisis.
