Culture Shock Life in London. Recently I've been doing episodes about

culture shock. If you've listened to recent episodes, you will have heard me talking to Gabby and

Lindsay from All ears English about general culture shock experiences that we've had.

I've also done an episode called Culture Shock The Four Stages

in which I go through some details about ways in which culture shock affect people

and now I'm doing one called culture shock life in

London. So what's this all about? Well this episode is all about common complaints

made by foreign students living in London.

It's common to experience some level of culture shock

when you're dealing with the realities of living in the capital city

as a foreign visitor.

So in this episode, I'll try and clarify some of the

confusions and frustrations related to everyday life in London from the

point of view of people who just you know weren't born there or who are visiting the city for a sort of fairly

short period of time, but people who are basically new, not just at London but to the UK

in general.

You know that I lived in London for many years and while working there as an English teacher,

I heard a lot of complaints from foreign students.

I also had plenty of nice comments of course but in

this episode I'd like to focus on the complaints in order to try and explain or

demystify them. Fair enough, some of the complaints are valid, but often they are just the result of those students
