Summary
In today's episode, Emily has guest Ivan Didyk on the show. Ivan's 7 year career as an ICU and critical care transport nurse recently ended due to standing up for medical freedom and choosing to not get vaccinated. As a child, Ivan came to the United States from the Soviet Union with his family as religious persecution immigrants. He talks about how his family would meet for church in the forest because it was illegal and they could actually be arrested by the KGB and fined. They sought out America as religous freedom seekers, so he and his family have a different perspective on what it's like to not have the freedoms we have here in America. He shares how his father's battle with cancer and the nurses who were there for his family through hospice, inspired him to become a nurse himself. It is very clear Ivan loves being a nurse and is extremely passionate about helping people. He explains his very unique perspective and talks about being with patients at the end of their life and how important those moments are for him to be compassionate, loving and respectful. Listen to hear Ivan's experience, the challenges he has faced as a nurse and his positive outlook on his future.
