And today's topic is how do you close the distance?

So I can't tell you how many times I've heard of Boll and I'm not quite sure where he's at,

what direction sometimes, what distance sometimes.

I know there's an elk there, but how do I close the distance?

Do I charge? Do I be aggressive? Do I be patient?

Is he coming to me? Do I have to go to him?

There's all kinds of variables on closing the distance for shot opportunities.

And for me, this is one of the things that still remains very difficult to sometimes judge

of situation. So I am super excited to hear from Dan and Corey and Paul and Trent on this topic today.

First, Steve, your tactics. What is your go-to? How do you read those situations to understand

are you aggressive or you patient? Are you making a move? How do you make a move? What are the

things that you look at for closing the distance when you know both there, but you're not quite for sure

exactly where is that? Does he have cows? All those variables.

Yeah. I mean, I think the default here is you're always going to be better off.

And this is the opposite of normal hunting advice is airing on the side of aggressive.

Too cautious, sitting back, hoping that a bull is going to come in,

probably is going to shoot you more in the foot more often than being aggressive and getting in

there. And the reason you can be aggressive with elk is because you can get away with so much

noise. If you're trying to be aggressive, stalking a mule deer, good luck, but you can be aggressive.
