I grew up in a home with extremely nurturing parents who rarely yelled.

In fact, I really don't have any conscious memories of them losing their tempers with me

or with each other.

I'm sure it happened on occasion, of course, but it was definitely not the culture in our

home and I'm so grateful for that.

But that made it all the more shocking to me when as a mother of young kids, I found myself

yelling and angry a lot of the time.

Where was this rage coming from?

I hadn't seen it modeled by my parents and I've honestly never really experienced it within

myself either.

I am a peacemaker by nature with a very laid back and accepting personality.

I couldn't remember ever having yelled at anybody and here I was yelling at precious

little toddlers who I loved more than anything.

It didn't make sense and it sometimes left me feeling very ashamed and discouraged.
