The topic today is weakness and what God does with it when we look to

him. Listen to what Paul says in 2 Corinthians 12, 9 and 10, and he said unto me, my grace is sufficient for thee, for my strength is made perfect

in weakness. Most gladly, therefore, will I rather glory in my infirmities that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities and reproaches,

in necessities, and persecutions in distresses for Christ's sake for when I am weak then am I strong

This is counterintuitive for us. Our fleshly natures don't want any weakness.

We want no infirmities, no reproaches, no necessities,

no persecutions, no distresses. But God wants to display the power of Christ in your life.

And if all was always easy, we would be weak indeed. Watch your Christian when troubles come. Do they rise to the

occasion or do they grumble, mumble, indulge self-pity, worry and worry some, and focus on the misery? Or do they roll up their sleeves and

lean into it because they want the power of Christ to rest on them? Sometimes we lean in because we are deceived about our own strength.

That guarantees that we will collapse under the weight of the trouble. But when we

lean in because we're anxious to see what God will do this time, then we can view all these

troubles with anticipation.

Now let's just look at these verses carefully for a minute.

The Lord did not take away the Apostle Paul's thorn in the

flesh. Instead he told Paul my grace is sufficient. God has enough grace for your troubles too. God transforms our

weakness into his strength, but we must seek his grace in the infirmity and glory in it.

And watch how your weakness is transformed into his strength.
