0:00.0 | Welcome to the feminine podcast. This is Nancy Wilson. Thanks for joining me today. |
0:10.0 | This week my podcast is for the Widows, but it is also for all of us because |
0:15.8 | Widows are a very special part of our community. First we're going to look at |
0:20.4 | the scriptures to see what God says about the plight of the widow and I say plight because it is a difficult |
0:26.8 | situation whatever the circumstances and no matter how much help and support she is receiving |
0:32.4 | it's still difficult. |
0:34.5 | Psalm 68.5 says, A Father of the Fatherless, a defender of Widows, is God in his holy habitation. God defines himself by how he treats the |
0:46.8 | fatherless and the widow. He is a father and a defender. Often a widow is left |
0:52.4 | with children. What a comfort to know that her children do have a father in God. |
0:57.0 | And a wife who's lost her husband may feel defenseless, but God is her defender. |
1:02.0 | These are truth she must hang on to and believe. But this is not |
1:06.7 | automatic in the sense that we don't have to look to him and trust him. When you feel |
1:11.6 | defenseless, look to Christ he is interceding for you to the Father. |
1:15.6 | Women often look to the creature rather than to the Creator. We must all trust the |
1:21.2 | Lord. Our husbands cannot meet all our needs or understand our thoughts or protect us from every evil, but God can. |
1:28.4 | And so those of us who have living husbands must practice leaning on the Lord. No creature can bear the weight that God can. |
1:35.3 | A widow must learn to believe God and look to him to be her defender and the father to |
1:41.5 | her children. This means consciously turning to him when she feels |
1:46.0 | defenseless and constantly pointing her children to God as their father. |
1:50.3 | Psalm 146.9 says the Lord watches over the strangers, he relieves the fatherless and |
1:57.1 | widow, but the way of the wicked he turns upside down. God relieves the fatherless and the widow. To relieve is to take away the burden, |
2:07.8 | to lighten a load, to comfort and strengthen. This is what God says he will do for the fatherless and the widow. |
