Today the topic is being a good soldier of Jesus Christ. In Paul's second letter

to Timothy, verses 1 through 3, I want you to listen particularly to verse 3 but I'll start with verse one he says you

therefore my son be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus and the things that you've heard from me

among many witnesses commit these to faithful men

who will be able to teach others also.

You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

Well, the first thing I want to clear up is that we don't want to think,

well, this only applies to Timothy, his son.

This doesn't apply to me, I'm a mom, a sister, you know, a wife. Oh, but it does.

Of course it applies to all of us. We're not to join the army, that's true. but when it comes to spiritual warfare we are all involved in this and

certainly in a physical war we're not to quietly stand by when our city is besieged.

Think of the women who were working to help save their city in moments of war.

And particularly the woman who saved her city when Joab stood outside and she offered to throw the head of his enemy over the wall.

She took care of business and saved the city. So we may all be called to different

things but we are to be soldiers enduring hardship and following Christ. We're co-laborers and co-soldiers in Christ.

Here's another example of Roman 16-3.

Paul says, as he's saying goodbye to everyone in that chapter,

Greet Priscilla and Aquila,

my fellow workers in Christ Jesus.

You see that Priscilla is a fellow worker.

Verse 4, who risked their own necks for my life.
