Summary

During my pregnancy, I was obsessed with listening to positive birth stories and imagining what my own would be like and I’m so excited to share it all with you today. I recap all the nitty gritty details from the highs and lows of pregnancy to the unexpected twists and turns of my labor and delivery! In this episode you’ll hear: How I decided between birthing at-home, in a birth center or at the hospital What resources, courses, and classes *we* took to prepare  What expectations I had of my husband The really important conversations we had before getting pregnant How long it took for me to get pregnant Tips for morning sickness How we did our gender reveal  Why we chose to hire a doula  What my birth wishes were  My attempt to go unmedicated All my desperate attempts to induce labor How hypnobirthing helped me The challenges I faced with my baby’s position What contractions / back labor felt like  What I used for pain management during labor  How I advocated for myself And what happened immediately after delivery I delve into the various stages of my pregnancy, the preparations my husband and I made, and the intense emotions that accompanied the journey. Despite the unexpected twists, the birth of my son was a profound and empowering experience. This episode is not just a recount of my birth story but also a tribute to the incredible support from my husband, my doula, and my medical team. Whether you’re a soon-to-be mom, a new mom, or someone who loves birth stories, I hope my journey brings you insight, hope, and maybe even some excitement for your own path to motherhood. Welcome back to another episode. I am so, so, so excited for this episode because today I'm going to share my birth story with you. I am currently eight months postpartum and I'm starting to feel more and more like myself again. But when I was pregnant, I could not get enough when it came to consuming birth stories. I was listening to them. I was

0:23.0

searching for them on social media. I was so intrigued and I wanted to hear every little detail

0:29.4

because I kept trying to imagine what my own could potentially be like. And I was also trying to

0:34.9

figure out how I wanted to birth my baby, what felt right for me.

0:39.1

I didn't know if I maybe wanted to do an at-home water birth or if I wanted to be in a birth

beginning, but I found some amazing resources along the way that helped me figure out what felt right for me.

And I'm so grateful that I now get to share what an absolutely unreal experience

1:01.5

birthing my first child was like, how it all went down.

1:04.8

Although it did go down a little bit differently than I had initially hoped, I'm going to

1:08.6

share all the little details about what I

1:11.2

wanted, why I wanted it, how I prepared for birth, and then what actually ended up happening.

1:16.7

But before I do, I want to take a moment to acknowledge that while this is obviously an incredibly

1:21.9

significant and joyful experience for me, I understand that this may be a super sensitive topic for some of you.

1:29.0

If you are currently struggling with infertility, experiencing loss, or facing any other
