Summary
So many people in life are in a scene they're unhappy with, whether it's at work, on a team they're part of, or at home. So often we take a passive approach and wait for the scene to change to our liking, instead of actively changing what we can control - ourselves. We spend a large part of our lives in the scenes we're part of, and if we want to change our scene and influence it in a positive way we've got to do our part to change ourselves first. Change yourself with the keys Dave shares in this episode and change your scene.

| 0:28.3 | Welcome to the Game Change Your Life. I'm Dave Anderson. In this topic, we're going to talk about |
| 0:33.1 | change yourself and change your scene. So many people, they're in a scene they're not happy with. |
| 0:39.8 | And the context I'm referring to here, the scene, it could be your home life. |
| 0:44.0 | It could be where you work. |
| 0:45.5 | Okay, you spend a lot of time in that scene. |
| 0:48.4 | It could be a part of a team. |
| 0:49.7 | If you're on a team, you're spending an awful lot of time with those people, and that's a big part of your |
| 0:55.2 | life, that scene. So often we take a passive approach, and we're waiting for something about |
| 1:01.6 | the scene to change to our liking, and we're waiting. And you know what waiting does? It puts |
| 1:07.7 | you in passive victim status, and I'm a big believer that if you want to |
| 1:11.7 | change your scene, influence it in a positive way. First, you've got to change yourself. And after |
| 1:17.9 | all, that's what you can control. You know, in my book Unstoppable, I talk about the four |
| 1:22.6 | types of performers, undertakers, caretakers, playmakers, and game changers, and I talk about them on an individual |
| 1:28.3 | basis, but I believe the same applies to organizations. You have Undertaker organizations. They don't |
| 1:34.5 | even do what they're required to do. It's the same principle. Or it's the other version of the |
| 1:38.6 | Undertaker. They're the toxic achiever. They do it really well, but they cheat you. They don't share |
| 1:43.2 | the right values. And then you've got a lot of caretaker organizations. They do it really well, but they cheat you. They don't share the right values. And then you've |
| 1:44.8 | got a lot of caretaker organizations. They do what's required to do, and they expect to be paid more |
| 1:50.7 | for it. They think it's somehow heroic, and often these organizations eventually become put on the |
| 1:56.0 | endangered species list. And then you get the playmaker organizations. And think about restaurants you go to. And every |
