Achtung, Achtung! In this bonus episode of We Have Ways of Making You Talk, we have

James messing about in tanks, including one of the stunners at the film Fury. Oh what

locks, I love a good Sherman.

Well we're at the Chalk Valley History Festival and basically this whole festival is put

on as an excuse by me to get all my favourite things here. So I'm now surrounded by

two Sherman tanks and M10 Achilles, a Panzermart 4. Over there is a US Army gun

tractor and 90mm anti-aircraft gun on the hill is a giant hawker typhoon and lots of

my favourite people and really you know I like to sort of think that I'm doing

this for at least it reasons but really it's completely selfish and I'm now

sitting in the turret of your tank agent barrel, your Sherman that you have

lovingly restored and it is absolutely amazing. I've never seen anything like this.

I just want to describe that this is a fully functioning active gun turret of an

M4 Sherman tank. That's correct, yeah I'm welcome aboard. Thank you and I was just

literally about to put my my foot up somewhere and I realized on the tin it says

hand grenades I'm now thinking perhaps I'd better not but or is it safe to kind of

rest now I think you'll be safe to have your foot. But the first thing I know

is that everything's painted pretty much white. Yes well obviously tanks have a

limited amount of roof space in their fully armors who've just got the hatch

and obviously getting daylight to make a functioning crew is quite important.

You don't always want to rely on artificial light so if you paint everything

wide much easier to see. All the light that does come in is reflected much better.

Yeah that makes absolutely perfect sense and it's just one of those things that I'd
